The revised ARGUS rules-set & PORPHYRY

Alternate Reality Games Universal System

An earlier version had been tested under both Daedalists & Distraints and ARGUS titles back in the 20Tens.  This is completely revised.

I have made an effort to better accommodate PORPHYRY characters, and many of the expanded sub-systems in Porphyry have been incorporated into ARGUS.

The Universal component of the name is that the same Attributes and Abilities are used, and the same score-range ('18-03'), while different rolling procedures are used to add variety, while retaining not only lateral compatibility, but gross compatibility with all 3d6-derived stat-based RPGs.

The current build is the World Age after Porphyry.

Revised and Expanded Porphyry

I found the complete text of Porphyry, and it is now possible for me to expand it to be a stand alone game, as well as me expanding it a bit in specifics to help the GM get more of a grip on running it, based on my campaign and subsequent runs at it.

Mercenaries, Spies & Private Eyes RPG and Accessories

Porphyry works very well with the Stranger in a Strange Land, and Lost World sorts of adventures, where humans of our Earth discover a means of transport (one-way is most likely) to the blasted world.  The revised skill system in Porphyry may be more to Old School sensibilities, and MSPE characters can add the Professions without complication or omitting their individual skills.  Conversely, using MSPE as the pre-Burn world makes time-travel adventures much more accessible, and a likely welcome diversion from the horrors of Porphyry.  Just imagine taking Porphyry natives on the Raid of Rajallapor, or the surprise of the guests of Stormhaven to entertain Beastfolk.
